Word of Life Covenant is an agreement made by all members at Word of Life Mennonite Church

 

Confessing we have been led by the Spirit of God to receive Christ Jesus as personal Savior and Lord; and upon that confession having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant relationship with one another in the Body of Christ.

We pledge ourselves with the help of the Holy Spirit of God to follow the Lord Jesus Christ personally, with our families, and in fellowship with one another. We will establish our thinking and patterns of life upon the Word of God. We will organize all of our priorities around the Lord Jesus Christ: keeping Him in focus at all times, and allowing all peripheral values to contribute to that focus. 

We will worship the one and only true God. We will worship Him in private, with our families, and in corporate settings together. We will give ourselves to the exhortation of the Word: both in maintaining a teachable spirit ourselves, and in allowing our spiritual gifts to be used harmoniously with others for our mutual benefit. We will meet regularly together for our encouragement and edification. We will strive to be faithful stewards of our time, our talents, and our treasures. 

By the grace of God, we will be devoted to each other in brotherly love, remembering one another in prayer, aiding each other in sickness and distress, maintaining an humble attitude toward one another, and deferring to each other in the Lord. Our goal is to avoid gossip, and to share good reports of others. We will be slow in taking offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the words of Jesus to secure it without delay. We will submit ourselves to the discipline and counsel of this body. We will honor biblical leadership, and in all things seek the peace, purity, and spiritual unity of our fellowship. 

Finally, we are committed to advancing the Gospel of Christ in this world, to appreciating the church beyond our own assembly, and living in appropriate harmony with all believers everywhere--demonstrating the mercy of God through relief to the poor and Salvation to the lost. We will adorn our profession of faith in Christ with a life of love and obedience to Him.
